
Welcome to the Age of Balance! 

This mod makes a number of changes to unit and building values, as well as to a handful of technology values, in order to achieve that elusive feeling of balance between the races and restore strategic choice to the game as a whole. I would gladly accept any other balance suggestions not already present in my mod. This will be a work in progress, and I will update it regularly. Thanks for subscribing! 


NOTE: If any of the features marked with * below do not appear in game, it may be due to a bug in the mod priority system. Please post the problem here. You can always force the game to accept all of the mod changes by doing the following: 

1. Subscribe to this mod. 
2. Backup your protox.xml and techtreex.xml files in your /data/ folder (Likely path on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age of Mythology\data). 
3. Copy the protox.xml and techtreex.xml files from the /mods/AgeOfBalance/ folder to your /data/ folder. 

That is it. This mod only modifies two files. 


Balance changes v.11 

General 

*Significantly increased the cost of Secrets of the Titans technology. 
Increased the build limit for Houses slightly and upped their cost accordingly. 
Slight increase in Tower hitpoints, reduced their build limit slightly. 

Atlanteans 

Improved Fanatic hitpoints and attack. 
Increased the cost of Turma. 
Increased the movement speed of Katapeltes and Chieroballista slightly. 
Improved Manors (build limit and hitpoints), but upped their cost accordingly. 
Improved the stats of Hyperion's Satyrs, and an *extra Satyr spawns for free at your temple after advancement. 
Improved Caladria hitpoints, and *Leto's Bite of The Shark tech. 
Significantly improved Argus and Lampades myth units (Helios was too dominant as a late god choice). 

Norse 

Significantly increased Throwing Axeman damage. 
Slightly increased attack range of Hersir (it's still melee, of course, but it can get to its targets more easily). 
Increased Hill Fort attack damage. 
Slightly improved Jarl and Huskarl hitpoints. 
Improved Dwarf hitpoints (it's now harder to raid and kill Dwarven gatherers). 
Improved all Norse Myth units slightly. 
Slight increase in Portable Ram movement speed. 
Improved Fimbulwinter and Walking Woods god powers. 


Egyptians 

Reduced build limit of Mercenary infantry and cavalry. 
Slightly improved Camelry and Chariot hitpoints. 
Improved War Elephant stats but set a build limit of 5 only. 
Reduced the cost of Spearman, Axeman, and Slinger. 
Increased hitpoints of Migdol Stronghold. 
Improved Scorpion Man's poison damage. 
*Improved Set's civilization bonuses, particularly summoned and converted animals. 
*Improved Horus' Axe of Vengeance tech. 

Greeks 

No changes to Zeus, he doesn't need any more help... 
Improved Poseidon's Militia stats. 
*Improved Poseidon's cavalry and market discounts. 
Improved Hades' Shade stats, especially movement speed. 
Greatly improved Hades' Sentinel statues. 
Improved Chimera myth unit, especially it's fire breath attack.
